Situation
The bank's core systems, its Oracle Flexcube core banking and a Huawei mobile money platform, were large, old, and hard to change. Every new product took months, and growth meant buying more hardware.
Action
Rather than rip out systems the bank runs on, I modernized them piece by piece. I wrapped the core in clean interfaces, took off the parts that change most often, and let the old core shrink over time. Nothing was replaced in one high risk move.
Impact
The bank gained systems that scale on demand and ship new products far faster, now serving more than a million customers, without ever putting the core at risk.
