Situation
A national bank was running its most important banking and payments systems on ageing, on site infrastructure. It was expensive, slow to scale, and fragile as the business grew, in a setting where any downtime is a serious problem.
Action
I owned the plan for the whole move. I looked at each system and chose the right path for it rather than forcing everything through the same door, so some were simply lifted across while others were rebuilt properly for the cloud. Every step had a tested way back, and I put uptime ahead of speed at every decision point.
Impact
The bank held 99.98% uptime through the move and cut its running costs by up to 57%. Capacity now grows on demand instead of waiting on new hardware, and new features reach customers faster.
