Situation
A national bank had decided to move its banking and mobile money systems to the cloud. Leadership had no confidence it could be done without exposing the bank to security or regulatory risk, and there was no standard way for teams to build.
Action
They brought me in as the architect for the whole move. I set the target design and the standards every project would follow, so the bank moved as one estate instead of a series of one off builds. I made the call to keep its cloud in separate, sealed off sections rather than one shared space, so a problem in one part could never spread across the bank, and I built security, backups, and regulatory controls into the foundation from the start. Every important decision went through review, and I worked directly with executives and the regulator to keep the design aligned to the bank's strategy and its obligations.
Impact
The bank now runs its digital banking and mobile money on that foundation, serving more than a million customers at 99.98% uptime. A new system that once took weeks to prepare now takes a day, and every team builds on the same governed base.
Insight
The foundation matters more than anything built on top of it. Get it right first and every team that follows inherits the safety, instead of solving it again from scratch.
